HEATHER MOSSEY

I have been decorating, designing, and DYI-ing for as long as I can remember.  At 10 when other kids were saving their birthday money for toys I was saving for the “bed-in-a-bag” I had seen at Linen’s-n-Things.  I still remember it.  It was a blue plaid comforter, blue floral sheets and blue gingham pillow cases; classic 90’s and it cost me $100.  Once I had the new bedding set I disassembled my daybed, took it out to the front yard and spray painted it black because I was so over the pink flowers on the finials.  I was constantly painting things and redecorating to adapt my room to my ever-changing style.

Design is and always has been my passion, but for most of my career I had limited it to a hobby or side gig.  For many years I made what I believed to be the “responsible” choice when it came to my career instead of following my passion.  When my dad passed at 59 after an 18-year battle with pulmonary fibrosis I realized life is too short and decided it was time to turn my hobby into a career.  Delore was my dad’s middle name, a family name. He grew up hating it but I love it so I decided use it for my business. Sorry Dad!

I think interior design can be accessible to everyone and that styling your home shouldn’t be intimidating.  I find that most people just need a bit of guidance in order to hone in on their personal style and create a space that looks beautiful but also functions for their lifestyle.

I prefer a collaborative approach to design and enjoy incorporating things that clients already own and love into their newly updated space.  I have a love of vintage and antique items because I think they can bring life and character to a space that can’t be duplicated by brand new pieces.  I think a home should feel collected and lived in.  It shouldn’t look like the showroom you shopped in or like a perfectly styled hotel it should reflect the people and the life that is lived there.

What People Are Saying

“First and foremost, the kitchen remodel turned out simply great and exceeded our vision - arguably the most important part of working with a contractor. (Heather) was in touch frequently with design renderings, material selections and always offered great, timely advice.”

“…I initially worked with Heather, from Green State Kitchens and Baths design team, to design a bathroom of my dreams. She worked with me through the whole process. Jake, Tommy, Tanner, Damon, Willie, Alex and Toby not only transformed my bathroom, but helped socialize my dog!
I am looking forward to working with Green State Builders and Green State Kitchens and Baths on my house's next project!”

“…Rob, Heather and the team at Resourceful Renovator were incredibly responsive, helpful, and professional. We were working with the plans the previous owners had developed with RR and Heather worked from that foundation to help me personalize the project to my needs and interests. Heather’s advaned design planning and attention to detail meant the team could hit the ground running when the demolition got underway…”

— C. Taylor, Client

“Heather was invaluable! She was integral in the layout and design process, making appointments with vendors, ordering everything for 2 houses, organizing installations and communicating with tradesmen. My many questions were answered thoughtfully, tactfully and in a timely manner. We love our house!”
